Job Description

Lead, Field Service Technician  (MacGyver)

 

If your friends, family, and co-workers have referenced you as (MacGyver) we want to meet you. We are expanding, in search of a hands-on, Lead Field Services expert to lead our field services team. Expect to cover East of the Mississippi and North of Atlanta Ga. up to NY. We have a strong client base, with 40% of our workflow having a regional footprint surrounding our Corporate headquarters in Reading Pennsylvania.  Responsibilities include the installation, service, maintenance, repair, testing and calibration of heavy industrial manufacturing equipment. This job requires extensive travel to customers’ locations. Experience in (3) three of the following areas is highly desirable: Capital equipment, Loaders, automated packaging equipment, vessels, chambers, heavy equipment, machinery, refrigeration, compressors, and systems; as well as the ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical, pneumatic, schematics and experience troubleshooting, installation and repair of heavy machinery is required.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  • Hands-on lead, mentoring up to (5) five Field Service Technician
  • Perform mid-level to advanced customer support activities including equipment installation, equipment and/or product troubleshooting and repair, equipment maintenance, and assist with equipment testing, start-up, and validation activities as needed.
  • Responsible for supervising and/or executing field installation and testing of equipment
    Responsible for mid-level customer technical support (product/equipment troubleshooting) including support via phone, online, or in the field.
  • At times, act as single point of contact for customer, soliciting internal technical support as needed, managing sub-contractors as needed
  • Maintain broad equipment, process, and manufacturing knowledge critical to supporting equipment.
  • Works independently and a part of a team with minimal technical supervision.
  • Perform troubleshooting of various custom heavy machinery.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must enjoy mechanics, tinkering, trouble shooting and problem solving
  • Able to coordinate, perform the installation of complex, structural capital equipment.
  • Able to assemble complex, often large, mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to be a hands-on contributor while leading a small crew of Service Techs, Mechanics as needed.
  • Troubleshooting of complex mechanical systems
  • Able to perform manufacturing processes such as brazing, welding, etc.
  • Able to decipher electrical, mechanical, and process flow schematics and blueprints.
  • Basic understanding of Mechanical or Electrical Controls
    Familiarity and use of test equipment.

SUPERVISORY: Lead, mentor up to (5) five Field Service Technician / Mechanics

 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:  5+ years’ experience in the field, technical training, AAS in electrical, mechanical, or mechanic disciplines or equivalent work experience working in a Mechanical function. We value education, although value real world, hands-on, passionate leaders equally.
Familiarity and use of hand tools. Plumbing, including piping and brazing.
Electrical/Electronic knowledge. Understanding of technical instructions, schematics, blueprints, and specifications. Mechanical Skills. Computer Skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT


o Work environment is 90% in the field at customer facilities
o Field work is often around near medium/heavy construction and/or clean room environments
o Internal manufacturing floor contains mobile equipment, machinery, steam, high voltages, welding
o Noise levels can vary and hearing protection may be required in some areas
o Travel is approximately 90% to customer locations
o Must be able to work multiple/varying shifts to support business needs
